James W. Hutchinson

James is a litigator focusing on estate and real-estate related litigation. He leverages his strong professional judgment and first-rate advocacy skills to assist clients in navigating their legal problems. James has achieved successful results for his clients before the Superior Court of Justice and helped clients achieve favourable and timely settlements outside of court.
James graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario, where he was a member of the Dean’s List, was a National Champion and a Top Oralist in the Jessup Moot Competition, and served as the deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Western Journal of Legal Studies. During law school, James worked as a student at a leading litigation boutique in Toronto.
After law school, James clerked for the judges of the Superior Court of Justice in Barrie, Newmarket, and Oshawa. He assisted numerous Ontario judges through a wide variety of proceedings including estate and real-estate related matters. After his call to the Ontario Bar in 2023, James practiced civil litigation at a prominent litigation boutique in Toronto.
James was born and raised in Barrie. In 2024, James was thrilled at the opportunity to return home and join Friedman Estate Litigation.
